Seasonal Planting Program

Wildflowers and the 6 Seasons Gardening Program

Once your wildflower garden has been installed, it’s important to note, structured maintenance and planting is vital to your gardens longevity.

During our Season 1 installation you will receive 50% of the total plant budget in your garden. Working with half the plant numbers ensures we minimise the fallout from any major plant loss. That being said, a few plants dying is normal during this initial season as customers adjust to our deep watering schedule and plants test out their viability. This is where our Seasonal Planting Program has the greatest impact. Following the teething of Season 1, patches may appear however all of this and more can now be recovered across the remaining 5 seasons with the 50% balance. That way, rather than planting everything in Season 1 and still having patches appear, we are able to go back and target specific areas for re-planting.

Below is an example of how our Seasonal Planting Program works:

Customer X is having their garden installed in January which occurs during the Aboriginal season, Birak. They have 200 plants available in their overall budget.

Season 1 (Birak) - 100 plants installed

Garden Consultation - One of our Horticulturalists will come out to your garden and assess the success of our initial planting to help inform future selections. This will occur around 2 months after Season 1.

Season 2 (Bunuru) - 20 plants delivered

Season 3 (Djeran) - 20 plants delivered

Garden Consultation - One of our Horticulturalists will follow up on the success of our most recent plant deliveries. This will help inform our final two deliveries. This occurs approximately 6 months after Season 1.

Season 4 (Makuru) - 20 plants delivered

Season 5 (Djilba) - 20 plants delivered

Season 6 (Kambarang) - 20 plants delivered

Visit from Sue the Wildflower Whisperer - Your garden will now be approximately a year old - congratulations! During Sue’s visit this is a great time to harness some of Sue’s expertise on specific wildflowers and to discuss the future of your garden. It can also be an opportunity to decide whether any additional services are to be engaged.

Our Seasonal Planting Program works to bring about colour for gardens all year round. The unique 6 season planting cycle helps develop an understanding of how gardens grow across the seasons, how to adapt gardening behaviours that are often counter intuitive and to learn about  plant behaviours present in your garden. We are here for you to get what you need in order to feel confident in your new wildflower garden.

If required, the Practical Support component is an opportunity for Western Wildflower Gardens to physically assist you in the garden. Our gardening team knows the difference between a sprouting everlasting and an exotic weed or wildflowers that are ready to prune. We are available to you monthly, once off or seasonally to offer this support.

Every garden starts small which can be the greatest opportunity towards shaping and cajoling the plants to grow. Our Seasonal Planting Program is here to work with you in your garden and encourage the best response from our wildflowers for many seasons to come.

Let us support you in your WA native wildflower garden and help you feel rejuvenated.
